The M1 Ultra is a pretty incredible chip for Macs. Apple says that it can support up to 128GB of unified memory, and up to 800GB/s of memory bandwidth. It also has a 20-core CPU. That includes 16 high-performance cores and 4 high-efficiency cores. There is also a 32-core Neural Engine. To put it simply, this chip is insanely fast. Essentially, the M1 Ultra combines two M1 Max chips into a single chip. Though Apple won’t say that, as it’s not as impressive.

For the first time, Apple is debuting a desktop that is a sort of mid-range desktop. Not quite the entry-level that is the Mac Mini, but not as powerful as the Mac Pro. And that’s what the Mac Studio is going to be. It’s not quite the iMac, as it’s a box that you can bring your own monitor, mouse and keyboard over to use. It looks like a couple of Mac Mini’s stacked on top of each other. Which, given how powerful the new M1 Ultra chip is, it’s probably going to need that extra space. On top of that, Apple is also announcing the Studio Display. This is going to be a cheaper display from Apple, than the ProDisplay which does already cost $6,000. This is perfect for those that want a really good monitor, that is going to work extremely well with their Macbook, Mac Studio, or Mac Mini. Or even work as a second monitor for an iMac. No Mac Pro yet, but just imagine how powerful that chipset is going to be.
