Now Super Evil Megacorp is branching out with its next big multiplayer title. At first glance, Catalyst Black looks like a similar game to Vainglory. It has the same style camera angles, it’s a multiplayer battleground game, but that’s really where the similarities end. There are no top, mid, and bottom lanes. No large rosters of champions with their own unique skills. Players instead are ported into a larger open battleground and damage is dealt through a collection of different guns. There are multiple characters to choose from, but this essentially has no impact on your damage dealing efforts. Instead, the variety of builds comes from which guns, abilities, and trinkets you equip. At launch there will be more than 30 guns, more than 12 abilities, and more than 15 trinkets available to players. So right off the bat there should be a decent amount of loadout and build options. Of course if you really want to wreak havoc, you’ll want to focus on becoming a Primal. A super powerful being that does massive levels of damage to the enemy team.

Super Evil Megacorp says Catalyst Black will launch on Android and iOS devices on May 25. But you can pre-register right now and doing so will net you some in-game rewards. These will be unlocked at major milestones, and will include items like a Rocket Launcher, Star Chest, and Flamethrower. Other rewards will be present as well at varying milestones.

Unlike Vainglory which was pure PvP, Catalyst Black is touted as a PvEvP game. This all thanks to the multiple game modes. Such as Hydra, which lets players face off against opponents in a PvEvP setting. In Hydra, players must defend against and attack both other players and bosses. There’s also a Slayer mode like you’d find in Call Of Duty, where you’re just trying to reach the victory score by acquiring kills. There’s even a cool drop-in party feature that lets you quickly enter a match with a friend if you notice they’re already playing. If you’re interested in Catalyst Black and want to check the game out for yourself, you can see a brief overview of what it’s like in the trailer below.
