Apparently, CNN Plus will be launching later this month, though the company still says “Spring”. And Spring officially starts on March 21. The service was officially announced last July, and CNN has continued to announce new shows and talent that will be a part of the new service. It will of course have the usual daily shows like Reliable Sources, as well as an evening newscast with Wolf Blitzer. There’s going to be additional weekly programs that will feature CNN anchors as well as other media personalities. These include Jemele Hill, Audie Cornish, Scott Galloway, and Rex Chapman. The service will also have access to its original series and movies, as well as CNN’s vast library of content.

CNN Plus is going to be a tough sell for the company. Considering you’re not buying CNN the channel, that is available on other streaming services. CNN Plus is seen as a compliment to the regular CNN channel that you can get from YouTube TV. A bit like ESPN and ESPN Plus. And at $6 per month, it’s going to be tough for CNN Plus to really stand out, and prove that subscribers need to spend that extra money for yet another streaming service. The streaming world is facing a lot of competition right now. CNN Plus won’t just be competing with other services, but also with services from its parent company, WarnerMedia. Like HBO MAX. WarnerMedia is also working on merging with Discovery, which is expected to close this month as well.
