The upgrade over the Fossil series 5 watches is less about aesthetics and more about the internals. The Fossil 6 series smartwatches will be running the Snapdragon 4100+ SoC, and they will be the first Fossil watches to do so. According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 4100+ offers about an 85% performance boost over the Snapdragon 3100. It also has a co-processor which will help with always-on capabilities and improves tilt-to-wake functionality. This new chip also supports Bluetooth 5.0 and 4.2.
Aside from the performance boost, there are also battery improvements

Fossil is touting some pretty big battery improvements for the new generation. The company says that with the new silicon, users will see 25% less battery draw. Fossil says these watches will last 24 hours, but that obviously depends on usage. There’s also an extended battery mode which stretches the battery a couple of days. However, expect to have a lot of features disabled. Along with battery duration improvements, there’s also going to be a boost to charging speeds. Faster charging is all the rage nowadays, and Fossil, not one to be left behind, is claiming that this new watch will charge twice as fast as the “leading smartwatch.” That’s a bit ambiguous because the company doesn’t really specify which smartwatch. Fossil says that its 6 series watches will be able to charge 80% in just 30 minutes. Basically, you’ll get a full day’s charge in the time it takes to take a shower.
However, the main upgrade actually hasn’t arrived yet

The thing on most peoples’ minds is the software that the Fossil 6 series smartwatches will have. These watches will be running Wear OS version 2 out of the box. That’s a bit of a turn-off for a lot of folks, but this watch is compatible with Wear OS 3 when it comes out.
