As expected, the upcoming foldable will house two batteries, one in each half. The Korean certification agency recently listed both units — EB-BF936ABY with a rated capacity of 2,002mAh and EB-BF937ABY with a rated capacity of 2,268mAh (via). The combined capacity adds up to 4,270mAh, which is just shy of the 4,275mAh combined rated capacity of the two battery packs inside the Galaxy Z Fold 3. This should mean that Samsung will advertise the typical battery capacity of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 as 4400 mAh.

Galaxy Z Fold 4 to get the same battery capacity despite a smaller size
Samsung is looking to make its foldable smartphones slimmer and lighter. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 will reportedly switch to the Eco2 display technology to achieve a smaller dimension. This technology replaces the thick polarizer layer with a thinner color filter, reducing the overall thickness of the display assembly. The Galaxy Z Fold 4, on the other hand, doesn’t have that space to trim. Samsung used the Eco2 display technology on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 as well. So the company will have to look for other ways to reduce the device’s thickness. With reports suggesting a reduced length too (for a squarer design), the Korean firm seems to be having to cut a lot of space on this phone. It isn’t including a built-in silo for the S Pen due to this reason. Thankfully, the company isn’t cutting on the battery capacity of the phone. A recent report coming from Korea suggested Samsung is looking to make smartphone batteries using the stacking technology that it currently uses for electric vehicle (EV) batteries. This battery technology allows for more capacity in smaller packs. While the company isn’t expected to be ready with this tech anytime soon, you cannot completely rule out the possibility. Maybe the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will feature stacked-type batteries. We will likely find out in the coming months. In the meantime, we expect to hear more about the upcoming Samsung foldables. We will keep you posted.
