Google’s first foldable smartphone has been rumored for a long time. It was rumored to launch during the Pixel 6 event, and then in mid-2022. When that didn’t pan out, it was tipped to arrive alongside the Pixel 7 series, but that didn’t pan out either. Early next year seems to be a shoo-in, though. Ross Young is rarely wrong when it comes to such information, and it fits. It was allegedly planned for Q4 this year, but that didn’t pan out, so Google decided to push it to Q1 next year. Another device that is expected to arrive early next year is the Pixel Tablet. Google actually shared some additional information about that tablet during yesterday’s event. It did confirm that it’s coming next year, but the company didn’t say when exactly. H1, and possibly even Q1 launch is expected.

So, what do we know about Google’s first foldable smartphone? Well, it will allegedly be a smartphone that unfolds into a tablet. In other words, it won’t be a clamshell foldable, but a competitor to the Galaxy Z Fold 4. It will, allegedly, have a similar design language to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series, which makes sense. The Google Tensor G2 is expected to fuel it, as that is Google’s latest and greatest chip. The device will likely offer high-end specifications, and be quite pricey as well. If it really is coming in early 2023, chances are we’ll start getting more information soon, through leaks. The Pixel 7 series leaks were off the hook.
