The YouTube support account reiterated that their pricing reflects the rising costs of content. While also mentioning that they know this may not work for everyone and that they are working to add more flexible options in the future.

YouTube TV has already started to add some flexible options for users. As it has started launching a number of add-ons that you can add to the base plan. Namely its Sports and Entertainment plans that offer even more channels. And this week, a number of other add-ons appeared in the YouTube TV app. So it is something they are working on, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the base plan drop in channels and price in the future. Bringing more channels to different add-ons for users. That would make YouTube TV look a lot more like Sling TV actually. Where it starts at $35 per month, but you can really increase the price thanks to the many add-ons that are available. It’s important to note that sports networks are usually the most expensive portion of the price for streaming services like YouTube TV. Which means that ESPN will likely have to stay in the base plan, since Disney owns it and also wants YouTube TV to carry ABC, Disney, FreeForm and others. This is another reason why Sling TV has two base plans – Sling Orange and Sling Blue. One has the Fox networks and one has the Disney networks.
