Creating a Fohawk
Creating a Fohawk
Step 1: Score the right cut.
Before you move your hair in any direction you’ll need to score the right cut. This starts by asking for more length on your crown to ensure that you have sufficient hair to spike upwards. You’ll also need to figure out the sides of your hair and whether you want a tapered look or buzzed sides.
Step 2: Shampoo and condition your hair.
If you already have the desired look, make sure that you start by creating your look with a clean head of hair. Use a wash and care system like the Dove Men+Care Oxygen Fresh & Clean Fortifying 2-in-1 Shampoo + Conditioner, making sure to give your head a gentle massage as you work in the 2-in-1 solution.
Step 3: Towel dry your hair.
You’ll need your hair to be dry to create this look. After you shampoo and condition your hair, be sure to dry it completely with a towel and blowdryer, if necessary.
Step 4: Get the right products.
For spiky hair, use some hair gel or pomade, which has a stickier hold. Work a dollop of the Axe Smooth Look: Shine Pomade into your hair, creating length and a defined structure to your hair.
Step 5: Work your hair.
Place the gel or pomade into your hand, making sure that you have equal parts product to amount of hair you want in a fohawk. Work with the product and your hair texture and length to create a full-on spiked look or something subtle. Whatever length you are going for make sure that you pay attention to the front so that it stands up straight.
Step 6: Finger comb your hair upward.
After you work the product throughout your hair use your fingers to massage your locks, ensuring that they are working upwards into a triangle shape.
Step 7: Blow-dry your hair in place
To make sure your style stays put, use a blowdryer to seal your Bed Head for Men By TIGI Power Play Firm Finish Gel in place. Using a small amount of heat can help to maintain this look even longer.
Step 8: Hold the look in place.
Once you have applied heat to your fohawk, make sure that it all stays put by applying some Dove Style + Care Extra Hold Hairspray to your strands. Are you ready to make your very own fohawk?
