Huawei has announced that they’ll become available to purchase starting on January 16 in the UK, from the Huawei Store. Their availability will expand soon, though, as more places will get them starting in early February.

These are Huawei’s middle-of-the-road truly wireless earbuds, as the Huawei FreeBuds 2 Pro are still the top-of-the-line earbuds from the company. The Huawei FreeBuds 5i do bring a number of notable improvements compared to the FreeBuds 4i. They are lighter, the stem is shorter (29mm, 7mm shorter than FreeBuds 4i), while they also come with improved battery life, sound, and ANC. So, we’re looking at improvements across the board. On top of that, they also look nicer this time around. The case is now softer, and it has a pebble-like texture. The case itself weighs 34 grams, while each earbud weighs only 4.9 grams.

You will find a 410mAh battery inside the charging case, which is a notable improvement compared to the FreeBuds 4i. Huawei claims 28 hours of battery life for the earbuds, with the case included. The company also says that you can get 4 hours of audio playback after just a 15-minute charge. These earbuds are also IP54 certified for water resistance. There are multiple ANC and EQ modes included, and they do support Dual Device Connection as well, so that you can switch devices seamlessly.

The Huawei FreeBuds 5i also bring Hi-Res Audio Wireless (Hi-Res) certification. The LDAC support is included, and they also come with multi-EQ effects. That means you can select bass boost, or treble boost modes, for example. These earbuds also offer hybrid noise cancellation tech, and have two microphones included, for dual-mic ANC and hybrid noise cancellation. A maximum noise ANC depth is as high as 42dB.

You can choose between Ultra, General, and Cosy noise cancellation with these earbuds. Each of them delivers different ANC, so you’ll have to try them all out and see which one fits your style. They come in Blue, Ceramic White, and Nebula Black color options. The FreeBuds 5i are compatible with both Android and iOS, and basically any other device that allows for Bluetooth connection of audio devices such as earphones, headphones, and so on.
