Audio Events on LinkedIn will function like any other audio-focused social network. Creators will be able to host events across different topics and themes, which are open to any member. You can raise your hand to participate in the live conversation. If approved, you will join other speakers on the virtual stage. LinkedIn will also let you see who else has joined the event. This will allow you to have a real-time connection with them. You can also see the profiles of other participants and follow and message them during the event, so you can keep the conversations going after the event has ended. The professional social network app will use its recommendation algorithm to surface the most relevant events based on your profile. These could include an event by a creator or page you follow or a topic you frequently explore on LinkedIn.

Audio Events is part of a bigger interactive experience that LinkedIn is developing, which builds on the success of LinkedIn Live. According to the company, virtual live events on its platform saw a 150 percent year-on-year (YoY) increase last year. Attendees in virtual events grew an even bigger 231 percent YoY during the same period. The company says people are discussing topics like “overcoming communication hurdles, cybersecurity trends, goal setting for 2022, banking industry outlook, working smarter not harder, and more” over Live Events on its platform. LinkedIn is now developing new features keeping in mind the evolving nature of hybrid and virtual work environments. Following Audio Events, the company plans to roll out Video Events “later this spring”. It also has a Live Broadcasts feature in development. With these new interactive experiences, LinkedIn is looking to better facilitate virtual discussions on its platform. It wants to help create more meaningful connections as well as “bolster your professional brand and inspire peers”. The professional social network says it is “reimagining virtual events for professionals”. The company will provide more updates soon.
