The latest devices that are receiving a new security update are the unlocked Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the Z Flip (first-gen). Notably, the updates for both the devices are live in the U.S. The update brings August 2021, and not the September security patch with itself. Talking about the update for the unlocked Galaxy Z Fold 2, it arrives with firmware version F916U1UEU2EUH8. It bumps the security patch level to August 1, 2021. Samsung notes that this new update fixes more than 40 vulnerabilities related to privacy and security.

As noted by SamMobile, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 security update may also add some features of One UI 3.1.1. as well. This includes Bedtime Mode quick setting toggle, improved Flex Mode features, faster pop-up menus, and a more responsive camera app, along with bug fixes and stability improvements for the device. Now, coming to the update for unlocked Galaxy Z Flip, it arrives with firmware version F700U1TBU4EUH6. It bumps the security patch level to August 1, 2021. Similar to the update for the Galaxy Z Fold 2, SamMobile notes that this update for Galaxy Z Flip may also include some of the above-mentioned features of One UI 3.1.1. As always, Samsung is pushing the new updates for both devices via OTA in batches. This means it won’t be live for all Galaxy Z Fold 2 or Z Flip users in the U.S. The good thing is you can manually check for it by heading over to the Settings menu. Then select the System Update option and click Download and Install. If a new update is live for your unlocked Galaxy Z Fold 2 or unlocked Galaxy Z Flip, then you can tap on the notification and the download will begin. As of now, the size of the update is not known yet. So, we advise you to download the update on a stable Wi-Fi or mobile data connection to avoid any download errors.
