Samsung didn’t make all of those 300 million phones itself though. It outsourced the production of some 60 million-odd units to Chinese firms such as Wingtech and Huaquin. The company does so for its budget devices. The rest 240 million units were produced in-house. While 300 million is a big number, Samsung’s 2021 flagship series — Galaxy S21 — didn’t do particularly well in the market. The Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra sold a combined 20 million-odd units....

Samsung has just published its Q1 2022 earnings report and the numbers are staggering. The company reported consolidated revenue of KRW 77.78 trillion (roughly $61.15 billion) for the first three months of the year. That’s up 18.9 percent from KRW 65.39 trillion in Q1 2022. Perhaps it’s a record in the company’s history. Its previous all-time high quarterly consolidated revenue came in Q4 2021, i.e. the last quarter, when it posted KRW 76....

The EPA presented the honors to Samsung and other winners through a virtual award ceremony for its SMM Electronics Challenge 2021 program last week. The Korean firm has received the EPA SMM Gold Tier Award for the eighth consecutive year — since the program’s inception in 2014. That reflects the company’s excellence in e-waste recycling.
