What was wrong with Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition?

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition released with a slew of bugs and errors that can actually inhibit gameplay. Cars will randomly run into characters, planes will routinely crash into buildings and even on the ground, characters will randomly go flying off in different directions. There are tons more issues with this release including messed up vehicle spawning and contorted character models. The biggest issue that people are complaining about has to do with the graphics. The remaster adds a new coat of paint over the older Gen 6 graphics. The only issue is that in the Definitive Edition, all the characters seem to be smoothed over. This is something that really makes all of the characters (especially those who are tough and menacing) look soft and cartoonish.

Because of all the issues with the Definitive Edition, Rockstar Games has issued an apology. It posted a lengthy blog post where I apologize for the low standards of the game, and give us a few interesting updates. For starters, the company is going to be sending out a large update to address most of the issues that people are experiencing. There’s no word on when the update will arrive, but it can’t come soon enough. Along with that, Rockstar has some good news for people who are pining after the original titles. The company is going to be re-releasing the original versions of all three of the Grand Theft Auto games. However, it is only going to be releasing the PC ports of the games. Not only that, but it’s only going to be doing this temporarily. There’s no word on how long this window’s going to last. What’s good for the people who bought the Definitive Edition is that they will be able to pick up the original versions of the games at no extra charge. In the meantime, Rockstar Games is working on fixing up all the issues with Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. Hopefully, the company will fix all of the major glaring issues and really make this edition worth the money.
