Launched alongside the Galaxy S21 flagship smartphone series in January this year, the Galaxy Buds Pro is receiving a new software update with the build version R190XXUA0UH5. According to the official changelog, this update adds the ability to activate Ambient Sound during calls. If you’re on a call over your Galaxy earbuds, you will be able to turn on Ambient Sound so you aren’t isolated from your environment. Next up, the Galaxy Buds Pro is picking up two active noise cancelation (ANC) related features. Firstly, you can now turn on ANC for a single earbud. So if you want to completely block noise on one of your earbuds, you can do that. Then there’s the ability to control the ambient noise level, allowing you to choose what amount of sound from your surrounding you want to hear. This is a handy feature to have when you don’t want to turn on ANC but your surrounding is a bit too noisy. If you recall, the aforementioned update for the Galaxy Buds 2 also added the “Double Tap Edge” feature that lets you double-tap the edge of your earbuds to control volume levels. The Galaxy Buds Pro already has that ability. You can double-tap the edge of the right earbud to increase the volume and that on the left to decrease it. Introduced in the Galaxy Buds+ last year, Samsung added the “Double Tap Edge” feature to the Galaxy Buds Pro with a software update earlier this year. The feature is available under the Labs settings in the Galaxy Wearable app. The latest update for the galaxy Buds Pro also mentions stability improvements without going into any specific detail.

When Samsung released the first update to the Galaxy Buds 2, it promised to introduce some of the new features to its older TWS offerings as well. True to that promise, the company has now rolled out an update to the Galaxy Buds Pro. According to a Tizen Help report, you need Galaxy Buds Pro Plugin 3.0.21082751 or newer to access the new features. Check for an update in the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected smartphone. This update is currently available to users in South Korea only. However, it shouldn’t be long before the rollout expands to other regions. It’s unclear whether Samsung plans to bring the new features to Galaxy Buds Live as well. We will let you know as and when we have more information.
