We knew about this overhaul and the Preview Program for a while now. We got news of it back in October. Google said that it’s going to let people get an early look at what it’s doing with the Google Home app. So, this is almost like an open house for the Google Home app. If you are excited about this, then you should be able to sign up for the program.

The first thing you want to do is make sure that your Google Home app is fully updated. Find the Google Home app on the Google Play store, or find it through the App Info page. To get to the app info page, tap and hold on the Google Home app on your home screen, and when the little popup when it comes up, hit the App Info button ( the “!” Inside the circle). At that point, scroll to the bottom and tap on the App Details button. Look to see if there is an Update button next to the open button. If you don’t see it, then you might be on the latest version of Google Home. At that point, go inside the Google Home app and go to the Settings. There, you should see a Public Preview button under the General section. There, you can request an invitation to the program. If the company does accept your request, then you’ll be able to proceed. This process is similar to joining the Android beta program. Once you tap the Join Public Preview button, the app will immediately begin updating to the preview.
