The company has offered view-once messages for a while now, and they’ve been effective in protecting the privacy of the sender. However, that’s only if the recipient doesn’t know how to take screenshots. In that case, then the sender may as well have just emailed them a ZIP file.

This has been an ongoing mission at WhatsApp but seems that the company is on the right track. We have a new screenshot from the app explaining what view-once messages are, and there’s a section letting you know that you can’t take screenshots of the message. This feature is still in early development right now, so it’s not available for beta testers right now. It’s being tested on iOS at the moment, but the company is going to start testing it on Android eventually. We’re not sure then the feature will start making it to beta testers at this point, but the company is making some headway.

WhatsApp recently introduced a feature that will catalog who left a group chat. When a person leaves a group chat, the app will keep a log of who left the chat and when they left. Before, it would just tell you in the chat. However, it’s easy for something like that to be washed away in an active chat. The system will keep a log of who left in the past 60 days. Not only that but the log will accessible to anyone in the group, so it’s not restricted to just the group admin.
