The Xiaomi 12S Ultra has a gigantic camera bump, which is not surprising
Xiaomi stuffed three camera sensors on the back, though that main one really does stand out. It’s a huge sensor, a lot larger than what you’d find inside the iPhone 13 Pro Max, for example, as shown in the image below.
Having said that, the camera bump really does protrude on the back, as you can see in the images shared below. The first two images come from XDA Developers, Ben Sin shared them via Twitter. The last one is from TechDroider. All of them give you a really good idea as to how large that camera bump is. What is interesting, though, is that the phone can still stand on its own, upright, despite that camera bump. You can see that in one of the provided images above. It seems like Xiaomi did a really good job with weight distribution.

The Xiaomi 12S Ultra also has really compelling telephoto and ultrawide cameras, both are 48-megapixel sensors. Periscope capability is a part of the package too, as are Leica’s lenses, photographic styles, and filters. Initial photo samples from the device do seem really compelling. In addition to announcing the 12S Ultra, though, Xiaomi also presented the Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro. Those two phones are compelling in their own right, but the ‘Ultra’ model does stand out. Unfortunately, all of those phones may stay exclusive to China. Richard Lai from Engadget shared a quote from Xiaomi, saying that, which means we may have to wait until the Xiaomi 13 series to get those goodies.
